Web Design Pricing GuidelinesThe prices provided here are to be thought of as a guide. It is completely possible that your quote will come in at or lower than these guidelines. Depending on the size and amount of advanced features of your website, your price quote could come in a bit above these guidelines. The first year of having a website is generally the most expensive. This is the year that all of the initial setup occurs and is the most time consuming. Depending upon the size and intricacy of your website, it might only take a couple of hours to design. As a general guide, it probably takes about 2-3 hours to get the basic structure of a website done. My general hourly fee is $80/hr. The next expense that is incurred is the cost of securing the domain name, the cost of hosting the website [the big cloud in the sky where your website lives!], and the cost of my maintenance. The built-in maintenance cost covers two hours of maintenance & small changes per month. Anything above the initial two hours will be billed at a discounted hourly rate. 'Small changes' include the addition or removal of a few sentences or a paragraph, changing of a few pictures, addition of an upcoming event. If new pages or re-design's are necessary, they will be billed at a negotiated rate. In general, the amount paid for hosting and maintenance is between $15 and $19 per month. This could end up being higher or lower based upon your needs. These costs are based on a six page website with pictures, video, sound, and text. Most people like to include a 'contact me' page similar to the page on this website. It allows a website visitor to send a message to the site owner without having to open up his or her email program. It just makes life easier! Naturally, upgrades are available!
